Three day musical fest organized by Army concludes

Srinagar: Son-et-Lumiere, a three day musical extravaganza organized by Army at the scenic hamlet of Parihaspora ended Sunday, a defence spokesman said.
He said that the festival started from 24 September and concluded to 26 September. The event deemed to be the biggest music fest of North Kashmir showcased the extraordinary local singing talent like Abid Aly, Waqar Khan and Shazia Bashir along with various other artists. Famous sufi singer, Shafi Sapori too enthralled the public with his unique Sufiyana andaz, the spokesman added.
He said that Altamash Faridi of Bollywood fame mesmerized the audience with his soulful singing. His performance was an impetus for the local budding artists who enjoyed every bit of the musical fest which presented the fusion of Sufi, Folk and Bollywood music. It also proved to be a springboard for the young talents of Kashmir. They requested the Army and the civil administration to organize more such events in the Valley on regular basis, the spokesman added.
He said that the Chief Guest for the event was Maj Gen Sanjiv Singh Slaria, GOC CIF(K). Many senior civil and Police dignitaries also graced the occasion. The festival was a true tribute to the rich sufi culture of Kashmir and was an apt example were music was celebrated.
