Lalpora-Wazulkulnad road in shambles, locals demand macadamisation

Pulwama: The residents of Lalpora area of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday staged protest against the local administration for failing to macadamise Lalpora-Wazulkulnad road.
Locals said that despite work on the road was started way back but the local authorities have failed to complete the civil works.
The locals while protesting raised slogans against PMGSY for failing to complete the work on the road.
“This road is lying incomplete since last 15 years due to which people of vast area are suffering,” said Manzoor Ahmad, a protestor.
He said that they have brought this issue into the notice of higher ups several times but to no avail.
He said that chief engineer PMGSY has visited the area recently who directed officials to start work on the project at an earliest but even his orders were not implemented.
Locals said that patients, elderly people and children are suffering mostly due to the dilapidated condition of the road.
They said that no public transport is available on the road due to the bad condition of the road and people face huge problems during emergencies.
They requested higher ups to look into the matter and complete the road at an earliest so that they can heave a sigh of relief.
Meanwhile, Assistant Executive Engineer PMGSY Shabir Ahmad, when contacted said that the work on the road will restart within few days.
“The road stretch will be completed soon and locals will witness relief ,” he added.
