Police arrests seven drug peddlers in Baramulla

Baramulla: Police on Saturday arrested seven drug peddlers in north Kashmir’s Baramulla and recovered contraband substance from their possession, a police spokesman said.
He said that police established a checkpoint established at Nanak Bhawan Baramulla and intercepted four persons identified as Mohammad Safeer Jagwal resident of Bandi Sarai Uri, Abdul Rashid Bhat resident of Saripora Rafiabad, Mohammad Yousuf Gojri resident of Mohalla Syed Karim Baramulla and Aijaz Ahmad Rather resident of Magraypora Wussan Pattan. During checking, officers were able to recover 970 grams of Heroin from their possession.
Similarly in another action, officers from PS Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Dewanbagh Baramulla intercepted three persons identified as Mohammad Ashraf Wani resident of Drangbal Baramulla A/P Poshbagh Fatehpora, Abdul Lattef Shah resident of Garkote Uri and Shahid Majeed Bhat resident of Mohalla Mir Sahib Baramulla. During checking, officers were able to recover 300 grams of Heroin from their possession.
They have been arrested and shifted to Police station where they remain in custody. Accordingly, Police have registered cases under relevant sections of law at Police Station Baramulla and further investigations have been initiated. Preliminary investigation reveals that the arrested accused persons are involved in selling drugs to youth of Baramulla Town and its surrounding areas.
