Allege that damaged transformer has not been repaired

Anantnag: The residents of Iqbal Colony Dooru in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday staged protest against power development department for failing to repair a damaged transformer.
Locals on Friday assembled and blocked the main Doory road to press for their demands, reports said.
The protestors assembled near the Town Hall Dooru and raised slogans against the PDD and demanded immediate repair of their damaged transformer.
The protestors said that the transformer installed in the locality developed a snag around three weeks back but since then authorities have failed to repair it.
They said that in absence of electricity they are facing lot of problems and their children are unable to attend classes as even smart phones could not be charged.
“We brought this issue into the notice of concerned higher ups several times but their repeated assurances proved hoax on ground,” they said.
The locals demanded that the transformer must be immediately repaired so that they won’t face any more problems.
Meanwhile, the traffic on the road remained blocked for hours which created mess in the area, eyewitness said.
Later, Station House Officer reached the spot and assured the protesters that their genuine demand will be met after which the protest was called off.
