Police conducts Drug de-addiction awareness programme at Rohama

Sopore: Police organised an awareness programme regarding Drug De-Addiction at Community hall BDO office Rohama Rafiabad. The awareness programme was held while following social distancing norms and other protocols, a police spokesman said.
The main aim of the program was to disseminate awareness regarding drug de-addiction. The program was attended by SP Sopore Sudhanshu Verma, SDPO Rafiabad Nissar Ahmad, BDO Rohama Mumtaz Ahmad, BMO Rohama Dr. Asif Ali Dar, BAR president Rafiabad Advocate Bilal Ahmad, Social Activist Umar Rashid Drug De-addiction Police team from Baramulla, Mufti Abdul Rashid Qasmi, Principle GHSS Rohama Muhammad Ibrahim Shah, Trade Association President Rohama Bashir Ahmad War Chairman Civil Society Rohama Abdul Rehman Yatoo Sumo Owners President Abdul Qayoom Lone, SHO Police Station Panzla Insp. Mudasir Shafi were attended by the students of the Government Higher Secondary School Rohama, a police spokesman said.
On the occasion, the prominent speakers briefed the participants about their role as parents in enriching the mental and physical health of their wards. They also stressed that parents can play pivotal role in assessing their children either he is drug addict or not and may take further steps in rehabilitating their wards with cooperation of police, so that the future generations may be saved. They also highlighted the drug addiction scenario of Kashmir, the causes and consequences of addiction.
Speaking on the occasion SP Sopore Sudhanshu Verma-IPS sought the cooperation of people in eradicating the social evils prevailing in the society particularly drug de-addiction.
He also highlighted the role of parents and said that parents had a greater responsibility in social development of a child as they act as the first teacher and guide of their wards.
Speakers also spoke about preventive measures and the role of J&K Police in the prevention of drug addiction. The speakers highlighted the socio- economic factors contributing to drug addicting and preventive measures thereof. They also explained the ways to know the warning signs and symptoms of a drug addict. They further said that to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, public cooperation is necessary and Police is always available for help to those who are victims of this addiction and will make all possible efforts to help and rehabilitate those affected persons.
