SRINAGAR: As part of the training cum exposure visit programme, 56 Sarpanches of Kashmir division were Monday flagged off by Director Rural Development Kashmir, Tariq Ahmad Zargar to the neighbouring state of Punjab.
The 56 Sarpanches in two batches are slated to visit Ferozpur and Amritsar as part of the 7- Day programme. In coming days, more such groups of elected PRI representatives will be sent to different states of the country for the exposure tour, Zargar informed.
The programme is aimed to provide opportunity to the PRI members to interact with their counterparts and also gain valuable insight into the robust functioning of the institutions of self governance in other states and best practices being adopted in the implementation of various development works and flagship schemes at the Panchayat level.
The exposure visit to many of the model panchayats across the country is a good learning experience for the PRI members and helps them to perform better, added the Director, Rural Development.
