Police arrests three drug peddlers in Baramulla

Srinagar: Police on Wednesday arrested three drug peddlers in north Kashmir’s Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesman said.
He said that police personnel established a checkpoint at Kunzer and intercepted two persons identified as Rouf Ahmad Wani son of Ghulam Mohammad Wani resident of Lolpora Kunzer and Lateef Ahmad Sofi son of Ghulam Nabi Sofi resident of Ward No. 2 Kunzer. During checking, officers were able to recover 3.5Kgs of Poppy straw and 260gms of Charas from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Similarly, police personnel established another checkpoint at Azadgunj Baramulla and intercepted a person identified as Shahid Majeed Bhat son of Abdul Majeed Bhat resident of Mohalla Mir Sahib Baramulla. During checking, the officers were able to recover 85gms of Charas from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, Police have registered cases under relevant sections of law at respective police stations and further investigations have been initiated.
