Watchi residents demands repairs of important road link
Pulwama: The residents of several villages of Watchi hamlet of in south Kashmir’s Shopian district said that they are facing problems due to the dilapidated condition of the road from Watchi to Babapora.
The residents of Watchi, Zahidbagh, Darbagh, Safanagri, and it’s adjacent areas said that road connecting these villages with sub district headquarter Pulwama-Zainapora is full of potholes due to which commuters are suffering.
They said that the road from Watchi-Babapora hasn’t been macadamised for the past several years now due to which even public traffic remains off the road.
“Now even the minimal public transport services that were operating on the road have stopped to operate as the operators claim huge damages to their vehicles,” locals said.
They said that despite bringing these issues into the notice of higher ups several times nothing has been done so far.
“Watchi being an important village has been ignored on all developmental fronts,” said Manzoor Ahmad a local resident.
He said that successive governments have ignored this village due to unknown reasons due to which Watchi is lagging far behind in development.
The bumpy condition of the road often leads to accidents in the area, locals said.
They once again requested higher ups to look into the matter and macadamise the roads at an earliest so that locals can heave a sigh of relief.
Meanwhile, an official of R&B department when contacted said that the bad patches of the road will be macadamised soon.
