Anantnag residents seek repair of link roads

Anantnag: People hailing from Anantnag township have demanded repairing of several link roads in main town alleging that the roads are in dilapidated condition.
People of Gulshan Abad area said that the three years back Urban Environmental Engineering Department (UEED) has dug a macadamised road to build a drain system in the area.
However, despite passage of three years, they have failed to complete the project due to which locals are facing lot of problems.
They said that drainage network has been completed now but the road has been left in a very dilapidated condition.
They said that they have been visiting office of UEED office where officials inform them that the allotment and transfer of funds for reconstruction of road has already been done, but the repair work on the road has not started yet.
They said that rains and winters add to their hardships especially the elderly and children are facing problems while moving out of their homes.
They said that many delegations from the locality have even visited the R&B office where officials assure them that work on road will start soon.
People from other areas of the town also said that link roads in their areas are in dilapidated condition which need immediate repairing.
They requested concerned authorities to look into the matter and demanded macadamisation of all link roads at an earliest.
