Pulwama: The residents of Nagandar area of Khrew hamlet in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have demanded construction of a vital bridge over a local stream.
The residents said that a bridge was washed out by flash floods in year 2019, however, since then nobody has bothered to get the bridge reconstructed.
They said that since two years thousands of people living in the area are suffering but no attention is being given towards the reconstruction of the bridge.
The locals said that people living in the area contributed some money and prepared a makeshift foot bridge only to be washed away by floods in 2019.
“We have been visiting offices of district as well as tehsil administration on daily basis but except assurances we haven’t got anything,” Younis, a local resident alleged.
He said that thousands of people especially elderly, children and patients are suffering a lot but no attention is being provided towards our issues.
Locals said that area has been neglected on all fronts as the area is far behind as compared to other villages.
They said that claims of government that basic amenities are being given to people on priority basis is proving a hoax as thousands of people are suffering in the area for want of a bridge.
The people requested LG Manoj Sinha, Divisional commissioner and other higher authorities to look into the matter at an earliest and order re-construction of the bridge on priority basis.
