DGP sanctions special welfare relief, financial assistance

Srinagar: Continuing with its endeavour to provide financial assistance to the families of the Police personnel who have passed away while in service, the Director General of Police Dilbag Singh has sanctioned over rupees 70 lakh as Special Welfare Relief/ financial assistance for NoKs of deceased police personnel/SPOs who expired while in service, a police spokesman said here.
The special welfare relief of rupees 60 lakh has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of deceased police personnel SgCt Omkar Nath, SgCt Raj Singh and Ct Manzoor Ahmad who expired due to health issues while in service. Out of this amount rupees one lakh each has been already paid to the NoKs of deceased police personnel for performing the last rites as immediate relief by the PHQ through their concerned units. The financial assistance has been given out of the Contributory Police Welfare Fund.
Besides, special relief of rupees five lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of deceased L/SPOs Sudesh Kumari and Hina Jan. Out of this amount rupees 50,000 each have been already paid to the NoKs for performing the last rites as immediate relief by the PHQ through their concerned units. The financial assistance has been given out of the Contributory Welfare Fund of SPOs, the spokesman said.
Meanwhile, the DGP has also sanctioned financial assistance of rupees 1.25 lakh in favour of NoKs of a Martyr, retired Police Personnel and a serving Follower to provide succor during their hard times.
As a welfare measure Police Headquarters has taken many initiatives to ensure increased help and assistance for the welfare of its personnel and their families.
