Tral residents seek repair of damaged bridge

Pulwama: Dozens of villages of Tral belt in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have alleged that they are forced to cross a canal using an unsafe bridge.
Locals from Diver Satoora area of Tral said that people from dozens of villages have no alternative other than to pass through the unsafe bridge.
They said that bridge is very unsafe and plying a vehicle over it is putting our lives at risk but there is no other option available with the people of the area.
They said that after repeated requests by the people of the area, R&B department started work on diversion to avert any untoward incident however, work on the diversion has been left incomplete.
Asif Ahmad, a local resident said that people of the area are suffering as diversion has been incomplete and people are forced to use the unsafe bridge for travel.
He said that if any untoward incident happens who will be put to blame.
They added that they have knocked doors of concerned authorities in this regard several times but to no avail.
They requested higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest so that any untoward incident can be averted.
Assistant Executive Engineer R&B Ishtiyak Ahmad said that due to shortage of funds work has been stopped and once funds will be available, work will be restarted on it.
