Police arrests drug peddler in Anantnag

Srinagar: Police in Anantnag have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substances from his possession, a police spokesman said Monday.
He said that police received an information through reliable sources that two persons identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Parray (Shop owner) son of Mohammad Ramzan Parray and Manzoor Ahmad Parray son of Abdul Rahman Parry both residents of Krandigham Bijbehara have indulged in drug peddling and have hoarded contrabands substances for sale in a Shop at Guree Bijbehara.
Accordingly a police party headed by SHO Bijbehara alongwith Executive Magistrate raided the specific location. During search, 1.3kgs of Charas were recovered from the said shop and one person was arrested on spot, the spokesman said.
He has been identified as Nisar Ahmad Parray son of Abdul Rahman Parray resident of Krandigham Bijbehara working as Lab Assistant in Govt. Boys Higher Secondary School Bijbehara, police added.
He has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody. However, the main accused persons managed to escape from the spot. Efforts are on to effect their arrest, the spokesman added.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 216/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Bijbehara and investigation has been taken up, the spokesman said.
