Four of family feared dead in Ramban road mishap

Ramban: Four members of a family are feared dead after a vehicle, they were travelling in, met with an accident Mehar area of Ramban district on Monday afternoon.
Official sources said that a Swift Dzire driven by Rakesh Kumar son of Mohinder Nath of Paloura area Jammu met with an accident near Mehar.
They said that Rakesh was travelling from Srinagar toward Jammu along with his wife Asha Rani and two sons Sachit Bhagat and Mehul Bhagat.
They said that as per eye witnesses, the driver suddenly lost control and couldn’t stop the car from going down into the river at Mehar.
The official sources said that search and rescue operation by teams of District police, QRT, UTDRF was underway to trace them.
They said that till now there was no trace of the missing passengers, however, vehicle has been found.
In another mishap one person died and eleven others sustained injuries after a collision took place between a Tempo and a Truck at Chamalwas area in Banihal, officials said.
They said that information was received that a truck bearing registration number JK-13C 4760 driven by one Kabir Ahmed Khan son of Mohammad Huaasin Khan of Rafiabad Baramulla was on its way from Srinagar towards Jammu. However, on reaching Chamalwas Khatana Basti at about 06:00 am, the driver, they said, lost control on the vehicle and collided with a Tempo bearing registration number PB-07BT 8324, which was on its way towards Srinagar.
The accident resulted in injuries to twelve passengers travelling in tempo who were labourers from Bijnore, they said adding that one passenger identified as Sajid Ahmed (37) son of Abdul Qayoom who was referred to GMC Anantnag later succumbed to his injuries.
The officials have identified the injured persons as (Tempo Driver) Karan Jeet Singh (40) son of Joginder Singh, Gajinder Singh (45) son of Ganesh, Mohammad Ayoub (39) son of Abdul Salam, Satish Kumar (39) son of Karan Singh, Mustaqeem (48) son of Peer Baksh, Nazir Ahmed (27) son of Shabir Ahmed, Shah Nawaz (28) son of Abdul Kareem, Omesh (24) son of Surinder Singh, Akshay (20) son of Ajay, Mohd Anwar (35)son of Shakeelu and Tahir Ahmad (36) son of Bhora – all residents of Uttar Pradesh state.
Among the injured several have been referred to GMC Anantnag after administration of treatment at a local health facility, they said.
Meanwhile SHO Banihal Nayeem Mattoo confirming the incident said that all the passengers have been rescued from the spot. An FIR number 143/2021 under sections 279/337 IPC has been registered in this regard for further proceedings, he further said.
