DGP sanctions 1.60 Cr as special welfare relief for families of police personnel
SRINAGAR: Director General of Police Dilbag Singh has sanctioned rupees 80 lakh as Special Welfare Relief and over rupees 55 lakh ex-gratia relief in favour of dependents and legal heirs of deceased Police personnel and SPOs, a police spokesman said Monday.
He said that the DGP has sanctioned Rupees 38 lakh ex-gratia relief in favour of NoKs of Constable Suhail Mushtaq Lohar while as rupees 17.50 lakh ex-gratia relief has also been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of SPO Shabaz Ahmad.
The special welfare relief of rupees 20 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of deceased personnel ASI Qiyam-ud-Din Khatana, HCs Lal Hussain, Muzaffar Ahmad SgCt. Sudesh Kumari and follower Sanjeev Kumar who expired during service due to health-related issues. Rupees 5 lakh has also been sanctioned in favour of NoKs of deceased SPO Man Singh who expired due to illness during the course of his engagement with the department, the spokesman added.
Out of this amount (special welfare relief) rupees one lakh each was already paid to the families/NoKs for performing the last rites as immediate relief by the PHQ through their concerned units/Districts. The financial assistance has been given out of the Contributory Police Welfare Fund, the spokesman said.
Police Headquarters is running many schemes for the welfare of its personnel and their families. There are also schemes for the wards of Police personnel and SPOs. Besides, there are schemes for the NoKs, their wards and also for the retired Police personnel and their spouses, the spokesman informed.
