Srinagar: Amid relaxation in Covid-19 lockdown, Srinagar witnessed huge rush of people on Monday as shoppers thronged the market place for making purchases for Eid-ul-Azha, which is to be celebrated on July 21.
Reports and witnesses said that bakeries and confectioneries witnessed huge rush of customers. However, outlets dealing with cloths including footwear saw a moderate flow of buyers.
“Even though we can see rush all around, not many are buying as compared to the Eid’s before the pandemic,” a shopkeeper said.
A large number of women shoppers were seen busy shopping for groceries and other items needed for making the Eid season more festive.
The roadside vendors had also set up stalls in the city, but were not satisfied with the sales as per their expectations.
“However, this year, the demand for sacrificial animals has shrunk as compared to previous years due Covid-19 pandemic and the ensuing general trade depression,” a local vendor said. (KNO)
