Administrative efforts, public cooperation helped curtail covid spread: DC Ant

ANANTNAG: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr. Piyush Singla Friday said that proactive administrative efforts and cooperation from the public have brought the Covid-19 situation under control in the district.
The DC said that the relevant pandemic parameters have shown remarkable improvement with recovery rate witnessing constant upward trend and positive cases dropping to single digits.
He, however, cautioned against any leniency and said that the coronavirus finds novel ways to re-emerge and hit back adding Vaccine and Covid Appropriate Behaviour (VAB & CAB) are vital to halt its resurgence and achieve pre-covid normalcy.
The DC made these remarks while briefing on COVID-19 scenario and the measures taken by the district to address the situation that arose due to its 2nd wave.
Urging people to get vaccinated forthwith, Dr. Singla said the research world over has established the efficacy of the vaccine beyond any doubt and it has become the agent of choice to avert another wave of the pandemic.
Giving details, the DC informed that the current recovery rate is above 98 percent while the positivity rate remained at 0.3 percent for the last seven (07) days.
Congratulating the district for achieving cent percent inoculation of above 45 years population with at least one dose, the DC called upon the beneficiaries to duly receive the 2nd jab on time as mandated by the guidelines. He stressed for continuing the ongoing drives with full momentum and energy so that the population achieves the herd immunity sooner.
Apprising on the vaccination figures, the DC said more than 3.62 lac doses have been administered to various categories of beneficiaries so far and doorstep inoculations are being affected to immunise the target population with 2nd dose as well.
Dr. Singla informed that to ensure observance of CAB at public parks and tourist sites the enforcement and health teams are working on ground and implementing the Covid SOPs at these places.
Regarding testing, the DC said it has been intensified further to see a better picture of the level of infection and identify hotspots in the population, maintaining that such data becomes more important during the unlock phase.
Hailing the dedication of every person involved in Covid control, the DC called for sustaining the mitigation efforts to curb the pandemic effectively.
