Newly elected chairperson, vice chairman of MC Sopore take oath
Sopore: The newly elected chairperson and vice chairman of Municipal council Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday took the oath at a swearing in ceremony, held at Municipal council office here in Sopore.
The oath was administered by Additional district development commissioner (ADDC) Sopore, Parvaiz Sajad to the recently elected chairperson and vice-president of Municipal council Sopore.
Among others, Councillors, Sopore police officers and officials of other departments of were also present on the occasion.
Recently, a national conference (NC) candidate and winning of Ward no. 13 Model town Sopore Masrat Nissar Kar was elected chairperson and other (NC) candidate, who won uncontested in ward no.11 New colony Sopore while as Mohammad Yousuf Radoo was elected as vice chairman of Municipal council Sopore.
Masarat Kar defeated her opponent Irfan Ali by a margin of 06 votes, out of 18 councillors, 12 voted in favour of Masarat Kar while her opponent Irfan Ali polled only 06 votes. Similarly, Mohammad Yousuf Radoo got 12 votes while his opponent Abdul Ahad Malla got only 06 votes in presidential election which was held on 04 July 2021.
