Ganderbal admin bans bathing in nallah Sindh
GANDERBAL: The district administration Ganderbal on Tuesday imposed ban on bathing in nallah Sindh in the district.
The decision was taken after a 20 year old youth from Najwan Kangan drowned in nallah Sindh near Preng on Sunday afternoon.
Additional District Magistrate Ganderbal on Tuesday vide order Number ADM/GBL/PS/2021/171-78 issued an advisory for general public to avoid bathing in Nallah Sindh.
“It has been observed that from the last few days because of rise in temperature people are carelessly bathing in the Nallah Sindh/Canals which is evident from the recent unfortunate incidents that led to the loss of precious lives.
Accordingly all the Tehsildars( Executive Magistrates ) are hereby directed to instruct the field staff including Lumberdars and Chowkidars to intimate the general public residing along the embankments and visitors visiting the places around the Nallah Sindh and other water bodies/ Canals to remain extra vigilant and avoid bathing in them for the safety of their precious lives,” the order issued by Additional District Magistrate Ganderbal reads.
Pertinently there have been many such incidents of drowning in nallah Sindh in past.
The locals have been consistently demanding the administration to impose ban on swimming and bathing in nallah Sindh in Ganderbal district to avoid any such mishaps.
