Anantnag village rues lack of basic facilities
Anantnag: The inhabitants of Magray pora Kanganhall in Achabal area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district have decried the administration’s role in not addressing the developmental needs of the area.
The inhabitants alleged that they have been neglected by successive governments and the area has lagged behind on development in every field.
“The roads are dilapidated, no water supply, no irrigation facilities, pesky power supply are the few basic problems of our area,” said Shakeel Ahmad, a local resident.
He said that they have been left out by the government as if they do not belong to this region.
“The road connecting this village to district headquarters is in a dilapidated condition and it has never been repaired or macadamised,” said another local identified as Ali Mohammed.
He said that they are living on the mercy of God as no department has ever paid heed to their area and they continue to live in dark ages.
“To fetch potable water the women folk have to travel by foot for many kilometers as drinking water facility is out of order in the village from the last two months,” he added.
“We have brought this issue into the notice of concerned higher ups but no attention was given in this regard,” the locals said.
“No irrigation facilities are available in the area besides that all inner roads and main road is in dilapidated condition,” they added.
The locals alleged that they approached the concerned authorities several times but according to them, the requests fell on deaf ears.
The locals now requested the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and other concerned authorities to look into the matter at an earliest and provide basic facilities to the area so that they too can avail the benefits of development.
