Tribal Migratory Census-2021 kick-started at B’la

First ever such Census being conducted in JK: DSEO

BARAMULLA: With an aim to get the demographic statistics of migratory population to formulate necessary plans for extending socio-economic benefits, authorities in Baramulla Saturday kick-started the first ever Tribal Migratory Census 2021 through which the required data of migratory population shall be collected.
According to District Statistics and Evaluation Officer (DSEO) Baramulla, Ishtiyaq Ahmad Khan, about 20 teams have been deputed for the purpose who shall compile the necessary information from 03 July to 20 July 2021.
He said that this is the first ever census being conducted in the UT of J&K by the Tribal Affairs Department for which the concerned Deputy Commissioner’s (Principal District Census Officer) have been entrusted for carrying out the process.
The DSEO, who is also the District Nodal Officer, further informed that these teams having 05 officials from across several departments shall visit the highland pasture/behaks/dhokas and the necessary logistic support have been provided to the team members.
He added that the census will involve hiring of highly skilled and technical personnel like supervisors, enumerators etc. He also informed that district level and tehsil level monitoring teams have been constituted for supervising and monitoring of the process.
The DSEO also said that necessary training modules were imparted in order to properly familiarise them with the related aspects.
Moreover, he said that essential items which include tents, medical kits and other necessary items have already been distributed among the respective teams.
