Three militants killed in Kulgam encounter
Srinagar: Three unidentified militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Kulgam district of south Kashmir on Wednesday, police said.
The gunbattle between the militants and security forces started in Chimmer village during a cordon and search operation launched by the law enforcement agencies in the area, the officials said.
Two militants were killed in the early exchange of firing while the third ultra engaged the security forces for several hours before being neutralized, the official said.
The identity and group affiliation of the slain militants was being ascertained, he added.
An official said that in the ensuing encounter three militants have been killed, while two army men were injured.
“The injured Army men were taken to Army hospital for treatment,” the official said, adding that the search operation was going on in the area.
Meanwhile, Kashmir zone police on its official Twitter handle also confirmed the killing of three militants in the encounter. The Tweet added that search was going on and further details shall follow.
