Two women killed in road mishaps

Srinagar: Two women were killed in two separate road mishaps across Kashmir valley on Friday, officials said.
They said that an unidentified woman died after she was hit by a passenger cab in Bramri locality along Kupwara-Srinagar Highway on Friday evening.
Reports said that the woman was hit by an Eco – passenger cab – bearing registration number JK-05J 4544 near Al-Fayaz Public School in Bramri area. The woman received critical injuries in the incident and was evacuated to District Hospital Handwara, however the doctors there declared her as brought dead on arrival.
The identity of the deceased lady has not been immediately ascertained.
A police official concerned confirming the incident said that the female is presumably in her twenties. The body has been kept at mortuary at the district hospital and efforts are on ascertain her identity.
“We have arrested the erring driver and seized the vehicle and a case under relevant sections of law taken up in this matter for further proceedings”, the official added.
Meanwhile, an ‘amateur’ female driver was killed after a car she was driving, rolled down a gorge at Tangnar area along Doodhpathri road in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
Reports said that the incident occurred as a family was returning from the scenic spot – Doodhpathri. The family had stopped for snacks at Tangnar area and in the course of time, one female started the vehicle. However she lost control over the vehicle, resulting in it rolling down a gorge along the road stretch.
The female, identified as one Saima Rasheed daughter of Abdul Rasheed from Kupwara, was retrieved dead from the gorge.
Confirming the fatal incident, a police official told GNS that the girl was ‘amateur’ and would occasionally drive.
“We have registered a case in this matter for further investigations”, the official further said. (GNS)
