CUK holds webinar on ‘Emerging Trends in Technology’
Ganderbal: Department of Information Technology, Central University of Kashmir (CUK) organized a webinar “Emerging Trends in Technology: Today and Beyond” wherein Director Sales India, Western Digital, Khalid Wani, delivered the keynote speech. Western Digital is one of the leading global data storage brands.
In his inaugural address, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir apprised the participants about the importance of technology and the momentum it gained over the past few decades, especially after Covid-19 breakout. He said “Technology is meant to shape the future and will impact everyone. We should, therefore, contribute to make it sustainable.”
Addressing the participants, Khalid Wani, shared his experience in the Industry and significance of data in the present global context. He said, “The data is growing exponentially, both in size and importance. Our brain will die with us, but the data we create will continue to exist”. He further talked about the importance of Data, the way it works and the future it holds. Mr. Khalid apprised the students about Artificial Intelligence, IoT, Edge Computing and the pitfalls of Technology and informed them about opportunities and career options in each of the fields and skills required to succeed.
Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar emphasized that technology is growing at a much faster pace. He said “Technology has turned the world into a global village and we should invest in learning what the future holds.”
Dean School of Engineering and Technology, Dr. M Ahsan Chishti, highlighted various technologies including Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence & Machine learning, 5G, Edge Computing, Quantum Computing, Block chain etc.
