‘Aaru’ a famed tourist spot lacks mobile connectivity
Anantnag: Famed tourist spot ‘Aaru’ in Pahalgam located in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district lacks proper mobile connectivity due to which tourists visiting there face various issues.
Locals who are residing in and around the area complained that the lack of cellular services has meant that even the children are even unable to attend the online classes amid the covid-19 pandemic.
They said that if one has to make phone call, he has to go Pahalgam which is around 8 kms from Aaru.
“The students haven’t attended a single online class as the area is still deprived of mobile network and internet connection,” Zahoor Ahmad, a local resident.
He said that tourists visiting here also get upset due to lack of mobile network and they prefer to return early.
Locals said that government is playing with the career of the local children as they have not attended a single online class since last two years due to Covid-19 pandemic.
The locals said that the lack of cellular services forces the tourists as well to return back.
“If tourists could remain at Aaru for nights hours, it would generate more income for the locals,” they added.
They said that they have taken up the issue with the concerned authorities many times but to no avail.
They once again requested concerned higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest and announce measures to provide cellular and internet services to the area.
