Woman ends life in Srinagar, two attempt suicide in Uri

Srinagar: Locals on Friday retrieved a dead body of a woman from river Jhelum near Shalteng area on the outskirts of Srinagar city. The woman was resident of Ganderbal and had jumped into the river earlier during the morning. Meanwhile, two women attempted suicide in north Kashmir’s Uri area.
Police said that the body of a woman who jumped into the river Jehlum on Friday morning at Cement Bridge Srinagar has been retrieved by police and locals.
Official sources said that a lady (name withheld) reportedly from Ganderbal district ended her life by jumping into the river Jehlum at Cement Bridge Qamarwari.
River Police and sand extractors tried to rescue her. They finally managed to retrieve the body of the woman.
Meanwhile, two women were hospitalised after they took some poisonous substance in Trikanjan locality of Boniyar in North Kashmir’s Baramulla distric.
An official said that the two women tried to end their lives by consuming some poisonous substance in Trikanjan area of Boniyar.
He said that soon after the incident they were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, hospital authorities also confirmed the incident saying that the duo was stable.
A police official said that a case FIR numbers 44 and 44/2021 under section 309 IPC have been registered at Boniyar Police Station.
