Police recovers kidnapped minor girl, accused arrested
Srinagar: Police in south Kashmir’s Kulgam recovered a kidnapped minor girl and arrested the accused person involved in the crime, a police spokesman said.
He said that on Thursday police received a complaint from a person stating that his daughter (name withheld) was kidnapped by a person identified as Aijaz Ahmad Ganie son of Mohammad Jalil Ganie resident of Goufbal Qaimoh.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 50/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Qaimoh and investigation was initiated.
During the course of investigation a team headed by SHO PS Qaimoh under the supervision of SDPO Qazigund was constituted. Acting on specific leads and by utilizing all available means, the team was able to recover the kidnapped girl and arrest the accused person from Yaripora area within 24 hours after the complaint was received. The accused has been shifted to PS Qaimoh where he remains in custody, the spokesman said.
After fulfilling all medico-legal formalities, the girl has been handed over to her legal heirs. Investigation into the matter is in progress, the spokesman added.
