Residents demand repair of dilapidated Drabgam-Yousmarg road
Pulwama: The dilapidated condition of the vital Pulwama-Yousmarg road is proving a nightmare or the commuters taking the road.
Locals said the this vital road was macadmised some five years back and since then no heed was paid towards the condition and upkeep of the of the road.
They said that the road is in dilapidated condition at various spots due to which it is giving a tough time to the locals as well as to tourists coming here from different districts.
They added that the matter was brought into the notice of concerned authorities several times but to no avail.
The residents of Aglar village said that the road is very bad condition in Aglar area which is affecting the residents of this area.
The villagers alleged that the officials of concerned department are not directing the contractors to expedite the construction work on the road.
Due to bad condition of the road and lack of proper drainage system, the commuters are facing problems, Irshad Ahmad q local resident said.
He said that the road passes through a difficult terrain and the risks of travelling over it increase manifolds during rainfall as the road becomes accident prone.
The residents accused the authorities for not maintaining the road and showing negligence over this issue.
Locals requested authorities to look into the matter and macadamise the road at an earliest so that locals can heave a sigh of relief.
Meanwhile, an official of R&B department said that road will be repaired in the coming weeks.
