Pulwama: The residents of various areas in Pulwama are up in arms against the government for proposing to shift AYUSH hospital from Pulwama town.
Locals said that the authorities had already identified around 16 kanals of land for AYUSH hospital at Prichoo in Pulwama town, however, the government has proposed to shift it to Hanjipora Ratnipora now.
Locals said that the hospital if established at Hanjipora will be far from the town which will make it inaccessible for the majority of the residents of the twin districts of south Kashmir.
They added that new proposed site is prone to floods as well so government must reconsider the decision of shifting the hospital from Pulwama town to a far off village which is less accessible and not feasible.
Asif Ahmad, a local social activist said that the new site is about 10 kilometers away from the main town and the residents of Shadimarg, Rajpora and Drabgam will have to travel long distances to reach the hopsital.
He said that government must reconsider its decision and prefer a central point as the location of the hospital which would prove accessible to all.
An official of the Municipal committee Palwama said that 16 kanals of land were allotted for the construction of hospital at Prichoo, however, officials have told them that the government has decided to shift it out of municipal limits to a village.
He said they have already informed the higher ups in this regard and people are hopeful that a decision will be taken which will be beneficial for every citizen.
