Pulwama: The residents of Khanagund village in Aripal Tehsil of Tral sub division have been facing hardships in absence of drinking water supply to their area, residents said.
They said that they have been facing water crisis for more than two weeks now, due to which they are facing hard times and the authorities have failed to take any concrete step to restore the water supply.
In absence of the supply, the residents are forced to trek several kilometers to get potable water, the locals alleged.
“The residents of the village have not received water supply for fifteen days, as the pipeline reportedly got blocked somewhere,” Tanveer Ahmad, a local resident said.
He said that in absence of drinking water facility, people usually get water from the nearby localities and streams these days which is highly contaminated.
Locals said that by using contaminated water, there are chances that water borne diseases can break out anytime.
They said that issue was brought to the notice of concerned authorities several times and they assured that issue will be resolved, but so far nothing has happened.
The residents demanded immediate restoration of water supply in the area and sought tanker service as well.
Meanwhile, when contacted an official said that staff has been already directed to restore supply to the area at an earliest.
