Locals demand clean potable water

Srinagar: Residents from Housing Colony Ompora Budgam and adjoining areas have complained about non-availability of clean potable water.
The locals said that they have been forced to take to the streets as they are being fed by contaminated water by the concerned department.
“It is learned that the filtration plant which was installed here about ten years ago has not been working properly and as a result the Jal Shakti Department has failed to provide clean water to the locals,” a local resident said.
“There is a risk of outbreak of epidemic diseases. We have learnt that there are no equipments here for measuring the right level of drinking water (Tds Level),” said another local.
He said that there is a lot of anger among the people against the administration as locals have been insisting on installation of hand pumps till arrangements are made to provide clean drinking water to the locals.
