Illicit poppy crop spread over 21 kanals destroyed

SRINAGAR: The Excise enforcement teams headed by Excise & Taxation Officer, South, North and Central Excise Range Friday destroyed illicit poppy crops spread over a total of 21 kanals and 02 marlas of land.
The poppy crop was destroyed on the directions of Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir and Excise Commissioner, J&K Government and under the close supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive) Kashmir, Tahir Ajaz.
Meanwhile, it was given out that the Illicit poppy crop spread on total of 631 kanals and 02 marlas of land has been destroyed in Kashmir valley till date and 12 number of FIRs stand lodged against the involved.
It was given out that the eradication drive shall continue till all illicit poppy/cannabis crops in Kashmir valley are destroyed.
