Budgam: A day after a leopard mauled 4-year-old girl to death in Budgam, fear has gripped the people as five more leopards have been spotted at different places in the district.
Eye-witnesses said that five more leopards were spotted in the district. As per reports three leopards were spotted at Makhama area of Magam Budgam and two were spotted at Chrawni Nowhar area of Central Kashmir’s Charar-i-Sharief.
Locals from Makhama said about three leopards were roaming in the area, whereas locals of Chrawni said that two leopards were seen in the area.
They have appealed to the authorities to take necessary steps and send the team of wildlife officials on spot to track the animals.
Meanwhile, an official said the search operation for the leopards who were spotted in different localities of Budgam has been launched already.
“We will continue the searches till we track them down,” officials said.
Meanwhile, the Wildlife department officials caught a leopard alive in Khudpora Khan-Sahib.
An official said that one of the leopards was spotted near Ompora Housing Colony in Budgam, where the incident happened yesterday.
He said that the leopard, who was spotted in Khudpora area of Khan-Sahib was caught alive by the officials of the Wildlife department and has been taken to a safer location.
He said that the search operation, for two more leopards that were spotted in two different localities of Budgam, has been launched.
“We will continue the searches till we track them down,” the official said. (KNO)
