Srinagar, June 6: Jammu and Kashmir Bank on Saturday got its new Chief Risk Officer after one of its senior officer Dr. Altaf Hussain Kira (Assistant Vice President) and Incharge Risk management Department, was elevated to the post.

An official release by the bank said that in compliance to the relevant RBI directives, “we wish to intimate that the Board of Directors of the Bank in their meeting held on 04th June, 2021 has appointed Dr. Altaf Hussain Kira as Chief Risk Officer of the Bank w.e.f. 04 th June, 2021 in place of Ms. Tabasum Nazir for a period of three years.

Dr. Altaf Hussain Kira, aged 50 years, holds a Ph.D. in Economics and Post-Doctoral Fellowship from IGIDR, Mumbai. He is presently managing affairs of the Integrated Risk Management Department of Jammu and Kashmir Bank Limited for the last one decade.

Dr. Kira also holds a degree in MBA (Finance) from University of Kashmir and CAIIB-II from Indian Institute of Banking and Finance. Dr. Kira’s vast banking experience spanning over 24 years shall come handy to the senior management of the Bank in the development and implementation of the Bank’s Risk Management functions.

Dr. Kira’s dynamic nature and vast experience makes him a good leader and motivator which shall help the Bank in strengthening the staff skills and adding value to the risk management systems, policies, processes, quantitative models and reports to ensure that the Bank’s risk management capabilities are sufficiently robust & effective to achieve its strategic objectives, the release added.
