Shopian: Several vital roads in south Kashmir’s Shopian district are in very dilapidated conditions forcing locals to demand macadamisation of the roads.
The locals from Watchi belt of Shopian district on Thursday said that road from Babapora to Watchi, Watchi to Darbagh and Aglar to Darbagh are in very dilapidated conditions.
They said that these roads were macadamised around six years back and since then no attention has been provided towards these roads.
Locals from Babapora, Safanagri, Watchi, Darbagh, Zahidbagh, Aglar and its adjacent areas said that these roads are of vital importance.
They said that these roads are connecting these villages with main roads that connect them to district headquarter Pulwama and Shopian.
They further added that from last two years they have been requesting concern authorities to macadamise these road links but as of now nothing has been done.
Locals from Darbagh said that a bridge on Nalla Tongri which lies on Darbagh-Aglar has got damaged two years back due to which only light motor vehicles are able to ply on the road.
They said that bridge must be also repaired so that heavy motor vehicles can also ply on the road.
Locals requested higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest so that locals can have a sigh of relief.
On contacting Assistant Executive Engineer, Nisar Ahmad he said that all these three roads are in this year’s plan and will be macadamised soon.
