The launch of the YUVA Scheme for mentoring young authors by the Union Education Ministry is a laudable step.
This is an author mentorship programme that aims to bring the perspectives of a new generation of writers to the forefront on topics such as unsung heroes, freedom fighters, unknown and forgotten places and their role in the national movement, and other related topics in an innovative and creative way.
The programme trains authors to write on a wide range of topics in order to promote Indian heritage, culture, and knowledge system. The seventy-five authors will be chosen through an all-India competition to be held from June 1 to July 31, 2021, with each receiving a cumulative scholarship of rupees fifty thousand per month for a period of six months under the mentorship scheme. The scheme would bolster young minds and set the groundwork for the world’s future creative leaders.
