Say they are deprived of drinking water since past four months

Anantnag: Bewora village in Srigufwara Tehsil of Anantnag district is without drinking water supply for past four months leaving the locals fuming.
Local residents said that they are without drinking water facility for the past four months but the concerned authorities are in deep slumber.
The taps in the village are running dry for past four months and the residents are craving for a single drop of water.
“We have been moving from pillar to post from last several months for want of drinking water but we got mere assurances from the officials,” they said.
“Our womenfolk have to go on foot for about a kilometer to fetch water from a canal which is highly contaminated,” said Ishrat Ahmad, a local resident.
He said that drinking contaminated water is already dangerous but in times of Covid, it can prove more fatal.
“The irony is that PHE department did not bother to supply water in tanks till they would have restored the supply,” said another resident.
Pipes are lying in our village but department has failed to install the same in last four months due to which the locals are facing lot of problems, he added
They requested government higher ups to look into the matter and provide drinking water to the area at an earliest so that locals can have a sigh of relief.
