Sopore: A new born baby died allegedly due to doctor’s negligence in Sopore sparking protests against the errant doctors.
Talking to media persons the distressed father Arif Habib Ganaie of Kraltang Sopore alleged that his new born female baby died due to the negligence of doctors.
He alleged that one senior doctor has treated his wife for last nine months but she did not bother to treat her when she had dire need of her treatment, adding that it was because of the delay that his newborn baby couldn’t survive.
Arif’s family joined by some locals staged a protest against two doctors and SDH Sopore, alleging negligence by them.
Shouting slogans against erring doctors, the protestors demanded action against them.
Arif alleged that on 22 May 2021 his wife developed severe labour pain and we immediately contacted the doctor who was treating her during the pregnancy period.
“The doctor however diverted us to another doctor at PHC Tarzoo where we were ill treated and no surgical procedure was conducted despite the patient screaming in pain,” he added.
He said that later the family managed to hire the service of private doctor who operated on his wife but could not save the newborn as she had died before the delivery could take place.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case in this regard. However, the Block medical officer (BMO) Dr. Zulfikar said that he is unaware regarding the matter as family has not reported to him yet.
He said that he will still investigate the issue.
