13 years on, health centre in Anantnag village awaits completion
Anantnag: Even after a lapse of more than 13 years, a health centre in Nanil area of Anantnag district awaits completion.
Locals from the Nanil area said that the health centre in the village was sanctioned in 2008, however, it took around one decade to solve the disputes with locals over acquisition of land.
They said that around four years back the health centre was designated as a New Type Primary Health Centre(NTPHC) and construction work was started in 2017 but NTPHC still awaits completion.
They said that locals are forced to visit district and sub district hospitals in absence of the health care facilities available in the area.
“Visiting other health care facilities not only consumes our time but also money which we have to spend for commuting,” Mohammed Amin, a local resident said.
He said that locals have been visiting offices of higher ups since last several years but it seems the administration is not paying any heed to our woes.
Locals once again requested higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest and complete construction work and equip the centre will facilities so that they can have a sigh of relief.
An official said that the building is being completed at an estimated cost of 1.87 crore by J&K Small Scale Industries Development Corporation (SICOP) and would cater around half dozen villages including Nanil, Matipora, Aung and Magraypora.
He said that due to paucity of funds besides clampdown after abrogation of article 370 and lockdowns due to Covid-19, the project got delayed.
Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat concerned executive engineer, when contacted said that 99 percent of the work has been completed already and construction work is going on in full swing.
He said that Rs 1.20 crore has been already released for completion works and building will be completed in the next 15 days.
