Non-Covid patients suffering in south Kashmir

Pulwama: Amid the steep surge in Covid-19 cases and reservation of all main hospitals as covid dedicated hospitals, non Covid patients across south Kashmir have complained of lack of healthcare.
People of different areas said they are unable to visit hospitals due to unavailability of public transport and fear of Covid-19.
They said that main hospitals have been designated as Covid dedicated hospitals and OPD’s in these hospitals have been closed.
Zamrooda, a pregnant woman from Anantnag said that she is unable to visit the hospital for monthly check up as she in absence of transport has not been able to visit the Anantnag hospital.
She said that government should have deputed at least one doctor in a week to different CHCs/PHCs so that pregnant ladies can meet the doctors and get themselves examined.
Abdul Khaliq, a resident of Pulwama said that even for medical emergencies, patients have to suffer as most of the doctors have been deputed for Covid duty and sometimes treatment is denied in the name Covid negative tests as ell.
“Only influential people are getting treatment presently and poor people have to move from pillar to post to get their health issues addressed,” he said.
People in south Kashmir have appealed authorities to look into the matter and take immediate steps in this regard so that patients won’t suffer anymore.
