Anantnag: Despite a lapse of three years, the work on mini secretariat complex undertaken by Jammu & Kashmir Project Construction Corporation (JKPCC) in Dooru area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag is from from being over.
Sources said that the work on project was started many years back and as of now the works seem nowhere near completion.
The work on Rs 6 crore project is in limbo as officials said that there are no funds available to restart the work that has been put on halt months back.
In 2018, the then state minister Farooq Ahmad Andrabi while laying the foundation stone of a building for the mini secretariat announced that the building would be completed on time and all tehsil level offices would work under one roof to save people from moving pillar to post.
However, with the end of the PDP-BJP coalition government, the work on the secretariat also came to a grinding halt, a local resident said.
An official said that the secretariat project was actually the responsibility of JKPCC as they had undertaken the work under sublet manner and work was started on the below portion (underground) in April 2018 till September.
“After that the work came to standstill,” he added.
Locals said that they are facing lot of problems during the Lockdown period to reach mini Secretariat Anantnag and are unable to get their works done.
The residents of the area appealed the authorities to get the work on the complex completed as soon as possible.
When contacted, Deputy General Manager (DGM) JKPCC Anantnag Unit, Ghulam Hussain Dar said that the construction work on the building was delayed due to lack of funds.
He said that Rs 25 lakh were spent on the construction work of the project but due to lack of funds, the work was stopped in 2018.
He added that once funds will be available, work on the mini Secretariat will be restarted.
