A big boost to farmers
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has offered a big relief to the farmers in this era of the pandemic by releasing eighth installments of the financial benefits of Rs 19000 crores to more than 9.5 crores beneficiary farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme.
The scheme was launched in February 2019. It provides income support of Rs 6000 per year to all eligible landholding farmers through a direct benefit transfer system. The farmers of West Bengal benefits from this scheme for the first time. The State Governments should ensure that all eligible farmers will be registered under the PM-KISAN scheme and avail benefits.
