DM Shopian applauds public for adhering to SOPs

SHOPIAN: The District Magistrate (DM) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya Saturday applauded the people of Shopian for strictly adhering to the Covid-19 SOPs especially on the occasions of Jummat-ul-Vida, Shab-e-Qadar and Eid-ul-Fitar and observing corona curfew in letter and spirit.
The DC said that this covid appropriate behaviour of the public has helped greatly in containing spread of the virus and number of daily positive cases has stabilised and a downfall in number of cases is now expected in coming days.
He said but we should not at any cost lower the guard and continue our fight against this deadly virus by religiously following all SOPs.
Vaishya emphasised that people should not pay heed to rumours and they can contact control rooms established at district, sub-district and tehsil level for any clarification or assistance.
He said the district has a sufficient number of oxygen supported beds and manpower available and there is no need to panic as the situation is well under control. He also appealed to the public to keep an eye on home isolated positive cases and if they roam outside they should be properly counselled or the matter be brought in notice of concerned tehsildars.
The DC appealed to the general public of the district to stay in their homes, not to roam around unnecessary, wear mask, keep sanitizing and not to come in contact with other people besides also getting vaccinated.
Regarding vaccination he appealed that any person in the age group of 45 years or above and has not received the first dose should visit the nearest health facility for vaccination and those who have received the first dose should go for the second dose as well.
Giving details about the number of positive cases in the district, the DC said that there are 1237 active positive cases out of which 1179 are under home isolation and 31 at DH Shopian besides recovery rate in the district is 75 percent.
