COVID-19: Govt to provide Rs 2,94, 22,000 relief among tourism players
Srinagar, May 15 : Jammu and Kashmir Finance department on Friday approved the release of nearly Rs three Crore for the tourism players of Jammu and Kashmir.
The funds to the tune of Rs 2,94,22,000 (Rupees two crore ninety four lakh and twenty two thousand only) will be disbursed among 14,711 tourism players including Shikarawalas, Ponywalas, Tourist Guides, Dandiwalas/Sledgewalas/ Palkiwalas.
In an order the finance department said after getting the approval from the Lieutenant Governor, J&K, funds to the tune of Rs.2,94, 22,000 /- (Rupees two crore ninety four lakh and twenty two thousand only) out of “J&K Relief Fund” has been approved for the Disbursement of relief for the survey taken by the Tourism Department Kashmir and Tourism Department Jammu, for the Shikarawalas, Tourist Guides, Ponywalas, Dandiwalas/Sledgewalas/ Palkiwalas in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the survey by the Tourism department Kashmir, it has asked for the relief of amount of Rs 2,92,54,000 for 4444 Shikarawalas, 1370 Tourist Guides, 6663 Ponywalas, 2150 Dandiwalas/Sledgewalas, while as Jammu Tourism Department has asked for Relief Amount of Rs 1,68,000 only for 13 tourist guides and 71 Ponywalas
As per the orders, the Tourism Department is advised to follow up release of funds with the LG’s Secretariat. “The amount shall be transferred from the “J&K Relief Fund” to the official account of the Department for further transfer in DBT mode to the concerned beneficiaries,” the order added.
