Govt forms committee to negotiate Centaur hotel take over

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir government Saturday constituted a five-member committee to negotiate with the Hotel Corporation of India (HCI) to take over the control of much famed hotel Cenatuar located on the banks of famous Dal Lake in Srinagar.
The government has constituted a committee for settlement of matters relating to Centaur Lake View Hotel Srinagar of HCI comprising four members.
The order issued by Commissioner Secretary to the government Manoj Kumar Diwedi, reads: “In supersession of all previous order, sanction is accorded to the constitution of committee comprising four members including Financial Commissioner, principal secretary to government public works and Road and Building department, secretary to tourism department and managing director of Jammu and Kashmir tourism Development Corporation.”
“The committee shall finalize all details and modalities with the representatives of Centaur Lake View Hotel and HCI and come up with a concrete proposal for the consideration of the government,” the order reads.
Meanwhile, the Coordination Committee of Centaur Lake View Hotel welcomed the move and said that this was the need of hour to preserve the property.
Spokesperson of the committee Mufti Iqbal said: “We welcome this step. The Government should speed up the process of negotiations with the HCI to take over the Centaur control as soon as possible. The hotel desperately needs renovation.”
He said there was a dire need in taking good care of the property and the rights of the staffers. (KNO)
