Decade on vital bridge in Dooru Anantnag awaits completion
Anantnag: Despite a lapse of more than ten years the Roads and Buildings (R&B) department has failed to complete a bridge in Batpora Khadar area in Kapran Dooru belt of Anantnag district, locals said.
The project approved in year 2011 is nowhere near completion as even 50 percent of the works have not been completed so far, they said.
Following the failure of the authorities to complete the bridge strong resentment is brewing among the locals against the inordinate delay in completion of the project.
Locals from the Batpora said that in absence of the Batpora-Khadar bridge, they are facing lot of problems but no attention is being given towards this grave issue.
Mohammad Iqbal, a local resident said that politicians come here only during election campaign and once they get elected they forget everything and leave the people of the upper belt as they are.
He said that several people have died while crossing the rivulet in absence of the bridge.
Locals said that they have been moving from pillar to post to get their issues resolved, however, except false assurances they haven’t got nothing.
“It has become a routine for government to initiate a project, and then forget to complete it,” said Bilal Ahmad, another local
He said that government must see the plight of the poor people living in the area and complete the bridge as they have to carry the ill and the elderly ones on shoulders to hospital and back.
The locals once again requested higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest and complete the project so that locals can heave a sigh of relief.
