Achabal residents rue frequent snags in transformer

Anantnag: Frequent damage to the Power transformer in Khan Mohalla/Shaksaz Mohalla and Khazir Shah Mohalla of Achabal has irked the consumers of Achabal area in south kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Residents of Khan Mohalla, Shaksaz Mohallah and Khazir Shah Mohallah said that the transformer got damaged within days after it was repaired.
“It has been damaged for the second time in a week. This transformer supplies electricity to some 200-300 households which have been reeling under darkness from past 8 days,” the locals said.
They said that Power Development department (PDD) must repair the transformer immediately as month of Ramadan is going on and locals are facing lot of problems in absence of power supply mainly during Iftari and Sehri time.
Waris Ahmad, a local resident said they are facing immense inconvenience during the month of Ramadan.
“People are paying the tariff regularly, despite that we have been deprived of electricity in the holy month of Ramadan,” he added.
Locals said that the transformer is lying at workshop in Anantnag from past several days.
They said that their children are suffering a lot as they have to attend online classes amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Locals requested higher ups in this regard and demanded repair of the transformer at an earliest so that locals can heave a sigh of relief.
