Checking squads recover Rs 10,800 as fine in Sopore

Sopore: In order to discourage stockpiling and over pricing and keeping in view the surge in Covid-19 cases, a comprehensive market checking and drive against Covid-19 violators was conducted by Sopore police along with civil officers and various Municipal Committees of sub division Sopore.
The drive was held in, Bus Stand Sopore, main market Dangiwacha Rafiabad, Puthkha and Chankhan areas to ensure that people adhere to SOPs/ guidelines envisaged by government to curb COVID-19 pandemic and also to discourage hoardings/over pricing, a district administration official said.
During the drive, people including drivers, pedestrians, shopkeepers, passengers and others were fined for not wearing face masks and not following SoP of covid19 containment measures, he said.
“An amount of Rs 10,800 were collected as fine from 58 such violators,” the official added.
“The drive was aimed to ensure wearing of face masks and following other mandated SOPs besides focusing on smooth supply of essential commodities during the holy month of Ramadhan,” SSP Sopore, who was part of the checking squad, said.
He also appealed the people falling under police district Sopore to adhere the guidelines/SOPs with regard to Covid-19 and wear face masks whenever they venture out of their homes.
