Pulwama: The residents of Zasov village in Lassipora belt of Pulwama district staged a proteston Monday against the Power development department against the unscheduled power supply in the area.
The protestors blocked the Litter-Pulwama main road and raised slogans against the Power development department.
They alleged that PDD resorts unscheduled power cuts in the area especially during Iftari and Sehri time.
“We have been facing unscheduled power cuts since last several months but as people were expecting that cuts would end in the month of Ramadan they have increased it,” Ishtiyak Ahmad, a protestor alleged.
“We have been submitting our fee on time but hardly getting power supply of few hours on daily basis which is injustice,” he added.
He said that the people have brought this issue into the notice of concerned authorities several times but to no avail.
Locals said that they will come on roads again and again if the PDD fails to provide scheduled power supply in the area.
The protestors later requested the higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest and ensure scheduled power supply to the area so that the locals can heave a sigh of relief.
The protest continued for some time which led to traffic disruptions for almost two hours.
Later, a police party rushed the spot and pacified the protestors.
The officials assured the protestors that their genuine grievance will be taken up with PDD top bosses and the issue will be resolved.
Reports said that the protestors later called off the protest and dispersed peacefully.
