India reports 2.73 Lakh Fresh Covid Cases, 1,619 Deaths
New Delhi, Apr 19: Hit by the second Covid wave, India recorded 2,73,810 fresh infections in the biggest-ever daily spike as the caseload soared to 1.5 crore. 1,619 Covid deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours in another grim record; over 1.78 lakh people have died so far.
This is the fifth straight day that India has recorded more than 2 lakh Covid cases in 24 hours.
The government on Sunday said it has increased the supply of medical oxygen to 12 “high-burden states”, including Maharashtra, which has the highest caseload in the country.
